Gary is our best active player here, and its a little ways down until we hit Lynn as the next, only making one attempt here last year. Rob is next in line though with a pile of attempts, enduring his 2nd worst attempt to date in 2011.

Our worst active player is Hobbs. He was the worst active player after the 2010 race, and still holds that title. I'm sure he'd like to rip off a good run tonight and work his way out of there.

Thats all we've got now. Quite a bit of drama this week with six folks getting their picks in after Thursday's Qualifying session. After a mini-conference, those picks have since been allowed, and it is the absolute last time across Fantasy Nascar. Jackson 5 had previously not been a part of the weekly email, but have since been added. With these allowed picks, Lynn has also been granted her selections. Kevin no-showed, so obviously he'll have no picks.

Now, if you are NOT on the email chain, and you're ABLE, please tell me so we don't go through this ever again. ALSO, I'm going to enact something brandnew as a failsafe. Next time I talk to you (somehow), I'm going to ask you "if you forget your picks sometime for whatever reason, what do you want me to do?" This can be an actual selection of guys, or "give me the best guys I haven't used" or "give me the worst safe guys" or something. Whatever you want is up to you. Hopefully we'll never come to that, but its a means to avoid this. I always feel bad when people miss picks; that is all used up now, folks. We're in our 9th Season now (wow!), we gotta know the rules.

Listed Qualifying Time on the update is the deadline. If it says 5:00, it means 5:00. Not 5:04. Not 5:01. 5:00. Better make it 4:59 to be safe. Or heck, how about Tuesday afternoon? Sounds good to me.

Phew! Alright, I guess we're all set here. Lets have a good rest of the year from now on out. Keep track of your picks, check the updates, your email, send in your email, and get me some emergency picks. Dig it, dudes!

Good luck out there!

Oh, dear... Thursday Qualifying has got 7* of us, it seems... If somebody had put picks in -- on time -- and I didn't get them for whatever reason (or couldn't find them), please let me know and we'll remedy this. I know that the Jackson 5 household has been having some problems with Livejournal hanging up lately, so please pass that along, too, should that be the case.

*(6 picks since allowed, Kevin completely no-showed.)

Did Not Qualify
44 249 J.J. Yeley
45 119 Mike Bliss
46 173 David Reutimann
47 23 Scott Riggs

Hey, Aric Almirola gets his first career Pole. Good for him! None of us benefit from that, but the impact of David Reutimann missing the race is farspread. Big Al, Kiereck(2), Hobbs, and Rich each pick up a DNQ with that. Reutimann is having a drastically different year than he has in recent NASCAR outings..

Cumulative Average Starts (11 Races):
*coming sometime*

We'll have Average Starts / Finishes up to date soon. I haven't had a break between Qualifying and the Race in many weeks now, so this Thursday-Sunday deal will give me some time to breeeathe. This is a rough week, pretty sad in the sense that a lot of people will be damaged by their first miss, and the chance for instant Bonus Points is now a week behind us. Man. The whole thing puts a bad taste in my mouth, but rules are rules. Bah.

We're done here now. Recordbook stuff'll be up on Sunday.

All-Star Weekend Results!! *NEW STANDINGS* [May. 21st, 2012|11:00 pm]
*COKE 600 QUALIFYING IS THURSDAY*

Showdown Results (25 Points per Transfer, x3):
1 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2 22 AJ Allmendinger
3 1 Jamie McMurray
4 56 Martin Truex Jr.
5 42 Juan Montoya
6 20 Joey Logano
7 43 Aric Almirola
8 31 Jeff Burton
9 83 Landon Cassill
10 93 Travis Kvapil
11 13 Casey Mears
12 47 Bobby Labonte
13 26 Josh Wise*
14 195 Scott Speed
15 38 David Gilliland
16 119 Mike Bliss (Ignition)
17 87 Joe Nemechek (Vibration)
18 30 David Stremme (Overheating)
19 10 David Reutimann (Vibration)
20 36 Tony Raines (Electrical)
21 33 Stephen Leicht* (Brakes)
22 249 J.J. Yeley (Accident)

Everyone was probably banking on Dale Jr. for the vote-getter, but he gets in the hard way and actually wins this thing! A.J. Allmendinger, who already got points for some people by snagging the Pole, brings it home second and he advances, too!

And now our eternal question has been answered: "if Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the race, who is the next most popular driver?" Bobby Labonte, fans.. Bobby Labonte

All-Star Race Results (50 points):
1 48 Jimmie Johnson
2 2 Brad Keselowski
3 17 Matt Kenseth
4 18 Kyle Busch
5 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
6 29 Kevin Harvick
7 9 Marcos Ambrose
8 51 Kurt Busch
9 5 Kasey Kahne
10 39 Ryan Newman
11 22 AJ Allmendinger
12 78 Regan Smith
13 24 Jeff Gordon
14 15 Clint Bowyer
15 21 Trevor Bayne
16 27 Paul Menard
17 14 Tony Stewart
18 34 David Ragan
19 47 Bobby Labonte
20 11 Denny Hamlin
21 55 Mark Martin
22 16 Greg Biffle (Engine)
23 99 Carl Edwards (Engine)

Carl Edwards won the race last year, but he was the first guy out this time. An experimental engine didn't work. It exploded, and his car set on fire. Greg Biffle was also driving a car with an experimetnal engine. It exploded, and his car set on fire. Don't think we'll be seeing those again anytime soon..

They added a new twist this year where the winners of the first four segments would be the first four dudes onto Pit Road for the final mandatory Pit Stop. Jimmie Johnson emerged first and never looked back. It was quite a week for the guy; a Darlington Win for Hendrick's 200th, his team took home the Pit Crew Challenge, and then he won the All-Star Race. But its a new week. Can he keep it up?

Bonus Points Acquired (Saturday Night):

000 Champ

C'mon, Mike, what are you doing?! Champ and Gary are the only two players to not select Dale Jr this week, and Mr. Champion goes home with zero points for the weekend. The Big Story though is Nikki, picking up 110 total points this weekend; 10 for 'Dinger on Friday, and then another 100 for two Transfers and the All-Star Win. Keireck and Hobbs were just behind her with 100 points of their own for the same Saturday Night points, which obviously a huge deal, too.

Nikki has been totally crushing All-Star weekend since her debut, and now she's got a few more accomplishments to add. That brings her up to 10 total transfers, and two All-Star Wins. She has a 4-year streak out getting at least 2 out of her 3 Showdown guys into the All-Star Race. Yikes.

--As glorious as this is (in case you forgot), none of this stuff affects Rookie points or Team Championships. It most CERTAINLY affects the "Standings" we always see though.

Standings:
+04 772 Nikki
-NC 746 Jackson
-02 725 Lou
+04 711 Nate
-02 707 JoAnne
-02 705 Gary
+02 693 MJ

Well then. For the 2nd year in a row, Nikki will have the lead exiting the All-Star Weekend. Last year she was in 1st place before the races, this time she was 5th; makes up all of those points on Friday and Saturday both, and leaves with a 26 point advantage. The gravity of All-Star Weekend is surely being felt right now for those who took it lightly. A quick glance at the entire standings will show you just how easy it is to lose or gain spots when the one party scores "not enough points."

Our Big Mover this week is Kiereck. He picks up 10 spots. WHAT?!
Our Big Loser this week is Champ. He gets 0 points and slips 6 spots.

--Send your Coke 600 picks in soon so it isn't YOU we're talking about next week!

If you made out well this week, great; use that boost and do with it all that you can. If you didn't do too hot, eh, theres still time! Remember that those Pole Bonuses add up, too. Our 2nd place player has 4 of 'em.

600 Memorial Day Weekend Miles (1100 total if you're watching Indy, too..):
1 Jamie McMurray
2 Brad Keselowski

46 guys and a girl; keep an eye on this list if you're picking someone who isn't a "regular."

Boy, the stage is set for the rest of the season now. We've got a new leader, we've got two guys who have been mired in the middle- to lower-pack who just cashed in huge, now with a completely different outlook. And we've got our most recent (and multiple-time) champs stuck in the Bottom 7. 8 of the Top 9 have never won a Fantasy Nascar Championship. Is this the year?

Now, for this week:

QUALIFYING IS THURSDAY. Get those picks in lickity split! And remember, we're back to NORMAL for the REST of the season. Theres on confirmation pick we have to make heading into the Chase, but until then: 2 guys every week, and keep track of your picks. This All-Star Weekend did NOT count towards your picks. I've said it a hundred times already, so make sure you didn't mark down guys against yourself that you didn't need to. This week: 2 guys from your list. Good luck, and go, go, go!

QUALIFYING IS THURSDAY. QUALIFYING IS THURSDAY. QUALIFYING IS THURSDAY.

Officially the most confusing week, but roughly 50 people have earned points from it. Outstanding.

List of past players who HAVEN'T received points:
Lauren, Ralph, Michelle, Jenn, Shields, Lane, Jason, Stamp, Dave, Swift, Kristin, Cassandra, Hoosier, HB2, ZMan, Amanda Classic, Jordan, C_Hawkfan, Emily's Amanda...and that jerk Pat!

Nikki is pretty solid here with EIGHT tranfers over four years. She's the only player ever to put all three of her drivers in the All-Star Race, and she doesn't seem to be slowing down. She missed it last year, but picked up an All-Star Race Win instead. Yikes.

Thats all we've got here. Race is on much later tonight.
Good luck, folks! We're back to normal -- at this same track -- next week!

?? Sprint Showdown Winner
?? Sprint Showdown Runner Up
?? Fan Vote-In Winner

Remember, if you feel INSANELY confident about someone advancing (those bottom three ?? guys), and then winning (as Kasey Kahne did a year or two ago, and Ryan Newman a few years prior), by all means, pick that person. Just know that if they fail to advance past the Showdown, you're pretty much out of luck.

Things you're picking for:
(A) Showdown Qualifying (10pts)
(B) All-Star Race Qualifying (10pts)
----------------------------------------
(A) All-Star Transfer (25pts)
(A) All-Star Transfer (25pts)
(A) All-Star Transfer (25pts)
[Showdown Winner, Runner-Up, or Vote-in]
----------------------------------------
(B) All-Star Race Winner (50pts)

Special note on the All-Star Race Winner. AGAIN, if you REALLY think that someone from the Showdown is going to win their race, then advance to the All-Star and win that, feel free to pick them. Kasey Kahne just did it via Fan Vote, so its certainly possible.
Your "Transfer" picks can be in any order. You want to see your three guys get in any way they can. Your Qualifying picks don't need to be the same as your race picks. If you have any questions, please pose them. This is a LOT less complicated than it seems.
And pick at will! Use whoever you want without penalty!
(Your "Pick Lists" are out the Window this week, and this week only!!)

PLEASE (with SO much encouragement!) head on over to Nascar.com and cast your vote! Its the only thing the entire season that YOU (and the FANS!) control. Theres also more information on how everything works exactly (and in their words). If you check that out, and you still need help, I'll do my best to assist you. Read up on the race formats and Qualifying sessions as well. I know that the Showdown is usually a 40-lap preliminary event with a standard Qualifying session, but the All-Star Race is nutty, and its Qualifying seesion is two full laps and a 4-tire pit stop, or something. Yeah, haha, read up! (links below!)

And please, try to have your picks in before each respective Qualifying session. I guess you don't NEED to, but it IS frowned upon selecting race picks following the Qualifying session (as for points races, picks MUST ALWAYS be in before Qualifying).

Jayski!:
http://www.jayski.com/stats/2012/all-star2012.htm

Do NOT wait around to make your picks! Do these as SOON as humanly possible!
Someone messes up EVERY year and then says "..well I didn't know!!" Its awful.

Good luck (and have fun!!)! You have NOTHING to lose.

39 30 David Stremme (Overheating)
40 87 Joe Nemechek (Power Steering)
41 52 Mike Skinner (Electrical)
42 179 Scott Speed (Overheating)
43 26 Josh Wise* (Vibration)

Manufacturers:
Chevy- Jimmie Johnson (1st)
Toyota- Denny Hamlin (2nd)
Ford- Matt Kenseth (6th)
Dodge- Brad Keselowski (15th)

Rookie of the Race:
#26 Josh Wise (43rd....)

Rob's Awesome Dude of the Race:
#9 Marcos Ambrose (9th)

Jimmy Olsen's Waste of a Pick:
#24 Jeff Gordon (35th)

This race gave us a good look at three periods of racing: daytime, dusk, and nighttime. Interesting that we'll see a similar transition in our next points-paying race at the Coke 600. Greg Biffle had this thing going early, but fell off towards the middle. Jimmie Johnson scooped the ball up there and ran with it pretty much the rest of the way. That is Hendrick Racing's 200th Win.

Points Acquired:
71 Jackson
71 Rich
70 Champ
67 Nikki
63 Lou
61 Kevin [Win(2)]
61 Paulie
60 JoAnne
59 Big Al
58 Colin
58 Angie*
56 Nate
51 Rory
50 CPU
50 Kiereck
47 Jay
46 Chris
44 Mrs S
40 Gary
40 MJ
38 Rob
38 Lynn
34 Natalie*
25 Hobbs
19 Harland

And what a weird week for scoring! We've got Jackson and Rich tying for the top rank, Paulie was the only win, and then pretty much the rest of the league is under 50 points. Huh? In an incredible stroke of luck, Harland managed to log 19 points on the wheels of McMurray and Jeff Gordon. Eek. May be a good time to play the Lotto and find that good luck elsewhere?

Cumulative Average Finishes (11 Races):
*coming soon!*

Standings:
-NC 700 Lou (2 weeks)
+01 696 Jackson
+01 682 JoAnne
-02 670 Gary
-NC 662 Nikki
+01 658 Champ
-02 654 Big Al

+02 573 Rich
-01 559 Kiereck
-01 558 Rory
-NC 545 Chris
-NC 486 CPU
-NC 353 Superbeast

Lou sticks up top for another, but Jackson actually closes the gap a little bit. Ever so slightly he draws near with JoAnne in tow, up to 3rd. Gary slides back to 4th and Nikki rounds out the Top 5. Big Al, who was tied for 5th last week falls to 7th.

Our Big Movers this week are Kevin, Angie, and Colin, each gaining 4 spots.
Our Big Loser this week is Harland. He tumbles 7 spots.

Team Standings [w/ weekly MVP]:
628.2 Schulz Pack [Nikki(4)]
615.6 Jackson 5 [Jackson(3)]
614.3 Skunk Ape Racing [Champ(7)]
599.5 Moonshine Runners [MJ(6)]
572.5 Open Bar Racing [Nate(7)]
551.0 Pack O'Clover [Rich(6)]

Schulz Pack remains in 1st, Nikki logging the most points for the team. Lou was right behind her, but Rob and Mrs S were on the other side of the spectrum. If not for the horrible day for some others players, we may've seen a change up top.
Jackson 5 pulls a huge power move and goes right back into 2nd. Wow! Jackson was the highest scoring player this week (tied with Rich), and that injection of points clearly helped. They now only trail the lead team.
Skunk Ape Racing and Champ have been the team to beat lately, and they very well might've been in first this week, but a horrific day by Harland (considering his picks and the outcome) have left them feeling a little flat. With a week off, we'll see if these guys can bounce back at the 600.
Moonshine Runners hit a little bump in the road this week. They'd been moving to the top slowly, but their progress will have to wait until next week. They'd probably like to toss this one out, too; they combined for a total of 65 points.
Open Bar Racing sat both of their members around midpack this week, much better than the alternative of being swamped at the very bottom. This team is still playing things a little conservative, so it'll certainly be interesting when the gloves come off somewhere down the line.
Pack O'Clover is about 20 points way from making a pass, and they'll need a solid effort to hit it. This week was a good start, Rich scoring the most points along with Jackson. Chris was one of those players below the 50-point mark. Can they get on the same page anytime soon?

Rookie Standings:
127 Natalie
119 Angie

Angie takes a swipe at Natalie this week, but still trails her by a bit. These standings may look exactly the same to you as last week, but know that Natalie only gained 6 points, and Angie picked up 13. Sooner or later..

Nascar's Worst Driver
Darlington:
5 Kurt Busch
3 Aric Almirola
1 Ryan Newman

Cumulative:
18 Kasey Kahne
09 Aric Almirola
07 Brad Keselowski
05 Elliott Sadler
05 Kyle Busch
05 David Reutimann
05 Trevor Bayne
05 Clint Bowyer
05 Tony Stewart
05 A.J. Allmendinger
05 Kurt Busch
04 Juan Montoya
04 Ryan Newman
03 Danica Patrick
03 Casey Mears
03 Timmy Hill
03 Regan Smith
02 Carl Edwards
01 Josh Wise
01 Jeff Gordon
01 Denny Hamlin

This is a weird one. We're awarding points this week all on one incident. Kurt Busch lost the handle on his car late in the race, and put it in the wall..and stayed in the wall. He eventually spun out across the track which caused Newman to also spin out headfirst into the wall. Aric Almirola was there to send Newman flying though. Later on Newman's crew would approach Kurt Busch's crew and a brouhaha (crewhaha?) nearly ensued. Pretty wild stuff. I can't really remember anyone else.

Now, normally there'd be an Entry List here, but everyone always has so much trouble with the All-Star Race stuff that we're going to devote an entire entry to it. That'll be up on Tuesday sometime. The basics; "pick whoever you want and it doesn't count against you." Easy enough, right? It'll be ran pretty much like the races way back in Speedweeks. Points if you Win, nothing if you don't. Simple!

So, keep an eye out for those lists, and the Averages will be updated sometime. Don't hold your breath on those.

Until next time!

Ralph is our best player with three attempts, BP is our best player with four attempts, and brian is our best player with seven attempts, wow. Big Al has eight attempts, and is our best active player with multiple attempts. MJ is our best active player overall, a single 68 earned last spring.

Cassandra is statistically our worst player here, but it is Jason who the worst with multple attempts, both in the 2004 season, managed to come back with Darlington Stripes on BOTH sides of the car..not sure how that happened. He fears the Lady In Black -- and who wouldn't? Our active player who is having the most trouble Taming The Track Too Tough is Harland, just 33.5 points per outing. I'm sure he'd like to lift that average tonight.

And that'll do us here! Happy Mother's Day (early) to all the moms out there. Enjoy this Saturday Night Race put here as a means of not interfering with your special day.

#99 Carl Edwards (31st)

This race didn't feature a massive Big One as it sometimes does, but somehow half the field managed to end up in the garage. We saw Qualifying captured with an unconventional move, and Brad Keselowski pulled out an unconventional move of his own to break the draft with Kyle Busch and defy the odds to hold onto 1st place after taking the white flag. Traditionally, the driver leading at the white flag winds up 2nd or worse. Not this week.

In a race with so many guys on the shelf at the finish, Hobbs rode his lucky horseshoe to victory on Sunday. It is the 2nd time this season he has led, and he picks up a Win as well -- his 2nd straight. Can he make it three in a row at Darlington?

Our next best players were Lynn, Natalie, Angie, and Nikki. What a great week for some of our women of Fantasy Nascar. Each of these players score 73 points or better, and are probably happy about that. Good runs out of both of our Rookies, too! That oughtta give some flair to the Rookie Standings!

Our Big Mover this week is Hobbs. He picks up 7 spots!

Wowww, what a week! The Average Finishes numbers probably threw you off; were you expecting to find Lou as the new leader here? Gary, the Average Finishes guy, is actually up to 2nd, and last week's leader Jackson has fallen down to 3rd. JoAnne is 4th with Big Al and Nikki tied for 5th. Champ exits the Top 5 this week.

Our Big Mover this week is Hobbs. He picks up 6 spots!
Our Big Losers this week are Rob and Colin. They each lose 6 spots.

Team Standings [w/ weekly MVP]:
574.0 Schulz Pack [Nikki(3)]
572.0 Skunk Ape Racing [Lynn(3)]
567.0 Moonshine Runners [Hobbs(6)]
563.0 Jackson 5 [Natalie(2)]
519.5 Open Bar Racing [Nate(6)]
493.0 Pack O'Clover [Chris(6)]

Nikki and the Schulz Pack remain in 1st, holding off Skunk Ape Racing and Lynn. For some who didn't catch last week's update they'd say "wow! SARS is coming!," but the Schulz Pack has actually -pulled away- this week. Weird!
Moonshine Runners have made it evident they're coming to the top, both by their actions as of late and also in a chance encounter with Rob of the Schulz Pack! In any event, they should be taken very seriously; they just made up 8 points on Jackson 5 last week, and thats less than the current margin to 1st place.
Jackson 5's Natalie earned her first MVP honor since initially scoring most for her team all the way back in Week 1. She'd been dropping ever since-- WHOA. I just realized that Natalie is a restrictor plate track expert. Awesome. Jackson 5 is once again dangerous!
Open Bar Racing is far off the pace at this point, and probably not what they had in mind at all coming in. Talladega is a tough place though, and its possible that just messed with 'em a little bit. They'll look to get back on pace at Darlington.
And Pack O'Clover just having a rough venture. They are 80 points out of first, a total that won't easily be made up. They'll need to hit hard, together, for weeks on end to close they gap. We saw the Runners make up 8 points on Jackson 5, so they can do that..just 10 times. Plenty of season left.

Rookie Standings:
121 Natalie
106 Angie

What a week these two had. One scoring 76, the other scoring 75. I imagine them both sitting at home going "oh man, my guys are doing so good; I'm TOTALLY getting monster Rookie points this week." Unfortunately for both of them, they were only separated by a point and scored essentially the same. However, Natalie was taht 76, edging Angie by 1 point, and earning the 10-point Rank Bonus, while Angie only got a 6. That makes a difference here, but its nice to see both of 'em scoring big (and climbing from 102/93). What'll happen next week!?

Nascar's Worst Driver
Talladega:
5 A.J. Allmendinger
3 Denny Hamlin
1 Aric Almirola

Cumulative:
18 Kasey Kahne
07 Brad Keselowski
06 Aric Almirola
05 Elliott Sadler
05 Kyle Busch
05 David Reutimann
05 Trevor Bayne
05 Clint Bowyer
05 Tony Stewart
05 A.J. Allmendinger
04 Juan Montoya
03 Danica Patrick
03 Casey Mears
03 Timmy Hill
03 Regan Smith
03 Ryan Newman
02 Carl Edwards
01 Josh Wise
01 Jeff Gordon
01 Denny Hamlin

The two culprits in final crash get the top nods here; A.J. Allmendinger was turned by Danny Hamlin who ducked out of line early for the middle lane. 'Dinger went to get in front, and around he went, collecting everyone. Blah. It was, like, right after a restart, too. What the heck.
Aric Almirola apparently had trouble right before the first caution, dropping below the line, and then darting back up to knock Dave Blaney into oncoming traffic before driving away safely, carnage behind him. Hmm. Perhaps he should've got more than one point?

Changed. Almirola 3, Hamlin 1.

That'll do it for this week, lets go to next week!

Is there any information you'd like to see next round?

Alright, so we've got 10 races in the books, and almost halfway through the "regular" season. The Standings have taken the shape of the season so far, can some new craftsman make outstanding changes to them?

Big Saturday Night race this week, giving us our NASCAR fix before Mother's Day. Again, check that Entry List. Guys that are there sometimes may not be there now, and people who are rarely around may be there. This'll be good practice for the All-Star Weekend which fast approaches when you have to pick guys from a set list. If they aren't on a list, don't pick 'em! *And our Entry List HAS changed a little bit. Check it out!!*

Big Update complete! We're ready for your picks now!

Schedule:
5/11 11:30AM SPEED Bojangles' Southern 500 Practice
5/11 02:00PM SPEED Bojangles' Southern 500 Final Practice
5/11 05:00PM SPEED Bojangles' Southern 500 Qualifying
5/12 06:30PM [FOX] Bojangles' Southern 500
